Lua: Interpreting a Ptr

If I have a lua function set up like this…
function test (ptr)
print (ptr)
–do something else…
end

What do I do with a pointer for the test function? I tried using lua_pushint (which doesn’t work) and lua_rawgeti (which gives me an error):
lua_pushinteger(L, ptr)

Reads the address as an integer.
What should I do? It doesn’t have to be through a pointer, I’m just assuming it’s easier to do that way.

This is a good use case for the getter/setter functions provided with lua 5.2 and above.
This provides a nice way to safely and securely wrap a lua value.
function test(myval)
return myval*10
end

function test.value(myval)
return myval*10
end

Then you can use them as normal like so…
local myval = 1234
print(test(myval)) –prints 1240

print(test.value(myval)) –prints 1240
